The Coinomist is an international media outlet about crypto economics. They wanted to improve the user experience and increase the time spent on the site. Our task was to find a simple way to combine editorial content with interactivity.
Bitcoin Predict Game для The Coinomist
We offered The Coinomist a new audience retention format, an interactive mini-game based on the real BTC chart.

About the project
increase in average time spent on the website

Challenge
The crypto media audience is quickly becoming accustomed to the news flow, and keeping them with just one article is becoming increasingly complex. We had to find an engaging format to attract users and create an emotional connection with the product.
We offered a solution: an element of gamification.
Idea Development
First, we defined the principles on which a gamified solution should be based:
- Simplicity that assures that every visitor can try it.
- Safety that helps to eliminate negative experiences.
- Real data that allows users to interact with a market chart, not a programmed random curve.
This led us to the idea of a mini-game that could be deployed directly on the website. This would increase user retention and help create a new experience when interacting with The Coinomist, thus promoting memorability.
Mechanics
The main idea of the game is to predict the price of an asset at the moment.
We chose the most popular asset, Bitcoin, to expand the number of interested users. The mechanics are simple: a user puts marks with their forecast on the live chart with one click, similar to placing a market order.
We were inspired by the idea of popular prediction platforms (such as Polymarket or Kalshi), where users place bets on events. This has become one of the main trends of 2025 due to its simplicity (you don’t have to be a professional trader to get started), excitement (the opportunity to test your prediction skills), and dynamics (the result is immediate).

The game has several rounds. With each of them, the difficulty and rewards increase. At the start of each attempt, the player receives 100 virtual coins. Failed predictions take coins from the account, and successful attempts multiply them. Players can practice as many times as they want. The Coinomist also sometimes offers real prizes for user coins.

Results
Now, The Coinomist offers both information and valuable skills that can be acquired in a fun way. The game increases the time users spend on the page and creates an incentive to return.
In addition to enjoying the gameplay, users can develop primary trading skills: predict price movements, feel the nature and logic of the market, and reflect on mistakes without unnecessary emotions.
The Coinomist team reported that since the launch of the game, the average time spent on the website has increased by 114%, and the average percentage of returning users has reached 41%.
